One way to accomplish this task is by employing a top-notch staff. “We only hire the best employees who are committed to guest satisfaction, which creates return visits from an extremely loyal group of customers,” says Ms. Huther.

Ms. Huther attributes much of the hotel’s success and efficiency to the innovative approach of collaborating with Pusser’s Caribbean Grille for the restaurant and gift shop, Towne Park for valet services and Woodwind for dock management. “We have challenged the traditional hotel operating model by outsourcing certain operations to industry vertical leaders,” she says. “By outsourcing these functions, we are able to focus 100 percent of our energy on our guests and the hotel operations.”

In an effort to support the treasure that is Annapolis, Thayer Lodging Group has served as a corporate sponsor for the United States Naval Academy and the Chesapeake Bay Hawks lacrosse team. The hotel and staff are also dedicated to philanthropic efforts and are longtime supporters of the Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals.
