Maybe it’s the dentist, maybe it’s not.

Upon entering the waiting area of Atlantic Dental Cosmetic & Family Dentistry in Ocean City, patients wonder if they’ve wandered into the wrong office. Atlantic Dental patients are welcomed by vibrant colors of blue and green, the calming strains of soothing music, and natural light streaming in through spacious windows. Other signs that say perhaps this isn’t a dentist office are the bamboo floors and the beverage bar offering patients their choice of hot tea, fresh lemon water, or favorite juice. In the operatories, they’re treated to spectacular views of Herring Creek while receiving a warm paraffin hand wax, a scented neck wrap, and a warm, down blanket. Even the dental chair is different; it’s a massage chair which puts the patient at total ease.

Atlantic Dental was founded by Dr. Geoffrey Robbins, whose been practicing general dentistry for over 30 years. Dr. Lawrence Michnick became a partner in 1997, with their new associate, Dr. Christopher Takacs, joining in 2006. The focus is on the individual and improving their quality of life, not simply addressing a problem that a patient has with their teeth. “An individual’s smile is critical to the way others see them and subsequently, the way they see and feel about themselves,” says Robbins. “Simple whitening, for instance, can have a tremendous impact on a person’s self esteem and that’s how we feel we’re treating the person, not just the teeth.” Drs. Robbins and Michnick stay up to date on the most recent advancements in the field of dentistry. To that end, they continually enhance their knowledge of cosmetic and restorative dentistry through seminars and coursework. They’ve attended numerous post-graduate courses at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies which has given them the technical knowledge and skills to perform advanced smile enhancement and full mouth reconstruction.

Both are committed to the community that they live in. Dr. Robbins was the Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Commission for the Town of Ocean City and served for over 20 years, he serves as a Board of Director for the Ocean City Development Corporation, and is a member of St. Martin’s Church Restoration Committee. He has been a member of the Ethics Board of the Eastern Shore Dental Society for the past ten years and is also a member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Michnick has held all offices of the Ocean City/Berlin Rotary Club and is current executive vice-president of Temple Bat Yam. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, as well as the American Dental Association and the Eastern Shore Dental Society.
