Though he didn't realize it at the time, Bob Gosselin found his life’s work as a young man, when he was introduced to photography at a firm which simply trained him to be a camera operator, causing his innate creative instincts to surface and send him in pursuit of refining his photographic skills. He was particularly inspired by the seminars of the late Monte Zucker, once tagged the Prince of Portraiture by some colleagues.

Bob began to think of his own camera as an artistic tool and photography soon became a passion. In 1985, he partnered with a colleague to form a photographic business on the Eastern Shore. In 1989, Bob established a Queenstown studio, started with weddings and built his business from there, relocating in 2010 to his present site in Chester.

Early on, Bob was drawn to portrait photography—adults, high school seniors, children, even pets. But, family group-portraiture brings him the greatest sense of fulfillment because those photographs mean so much to people and become even more precious as time and loved ones pass. “People trust me to capture and preserve life’s precious moments with my camera—to create cherished family photographs—and I take that responsibility very seriously,” says Bob.

While his studio is well-suited for fine portraiture, on-location, designer, family portraits are his specialty—taken at the client’s home or at any location in the area which is particularly meaningful to the family. Sometimes, Bob suggests an appropriate spot.

Capturing that magic moment, when every subject in the group looks terrific, demands a great deal of caring and commitment as well as a considerable investment of time. Not only is Bob willing to take the time to do it right, he insists upon it. He schedules no more than two photographic sessions per day, so clients never feel rushed.

Continually striving for perfection, he arranges to meet prior to the photo-session day with all family members to be photographed. Getting to know them a bit makes it easier for Bob to elicit natural expressions during his photography and family members become more receptive to his suggestions regarding wardrobe, hair and makeup—assuring that they all look their best and clothing choices are compatible. When Bob finally has that great photograph, his portrait enhancement artist makes it perfect by skillfully touching up any noticeable imperfections such as blemishes or wrinkles.

With each commission, Bob’s objective is to create a perfect portrait, and he is so positive the client will be thrilled with the result that he offers a 100 percent guarantee. If the client is not totally satisfied, all money will be cheerfully refunded or Bob will create additional images free.

Clients comply willingly with Bob Gosselin’s unwavering strategy because they learned what to expect when they contracted for the photo session. They saw photographs displayed in his studio and he made it known to them that he does whatever needs to be done to assure that every portrait is special and worthy of hanging in the finest of homes or his own studio.
