Chad Tate, founder of the Tate Mortgage Group, is a Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist (CMPS). Mr. Tate began as a mortgage banker in 1990 and has built his business one client at a time by providing exceptional service that naturally developed into more business through referrals over the last 20 years. His clients reside mostly in Harford, Baltimore and Cecil counties, but he also serves prospective home buyers and homeowners throughout the entire mid- Atlantic region.

Mr. Tate’s commitment to his community is strong— he has served as President and Vice-President of the Greater Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Havre de Grace City Council where he served as Council President for two terms.

Family plays an important part in Chad’s life; he and his wife Rachel have five daughters: Emily, Jennifer, Julianna, Elizabeth and Sharee-Janae, whom they adopted from Ethiopia last November. Chad has been active in his children’s activities, having managed a softball team for many years in the Little League Organization and coaching in the Parks and Recreation Soccer Program. Chad and his family are members of and attend Mountain Christian Church in Joppa.

Chad has attained the CMPS designation, held by less than one percent of mortgage loan officers nationwide. CMPS members are trained to strategically structure mortgage financing in a way that maximizes the benefits to the client. CMPS members must also maintain the highest regard for integrity and be deemed a person of character.

“The expertise I offer is sometimes more than mortgage related,” he says. “I have helped clients structure transactions which have very little to do with mortgage financing. For example, I have been able to assist clients by referring them to top-rated individuals and firms in the financial, legal and tax preparation and consulting fields.

Mr. Tate makes it a point to meet his clients in person and learn their wants, needs and dreams through open discussions and dialogue. Tate Mortgage Group is an affiliate of SWBC Mortgage Corporation, a direct lender, which means the entire loan process is completed in-house.

“The days of calling the mortgage store are behind us,” he says. “People should work with an experienced mortgage professional who is proven and takes the client’s entire financial situation into consideration.
