For land planning/site development, initial services include property feasibility studies and analyses, often using geographic information systems (GIS). Once a site has been determined, civil engineering services include surveying, site engineering, subdivision and storm water management design, as well as water and wastewater systems design. For municipal services, they have planning and design departments which specialize in water, wastewater and street infrastructure. Building design services, namely architecture and structural engineering, are available for project types ranging from small commercial buildings or complexes to large industrial facilities design. They have specialized experience in the design of projects within Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, which more often that not require special environmental considerations. The extent of their services can vary widely. If someone is primarily interested in nothing more than ideas, they can provide preliminary sketches or a facility assessment at a minimal cost. For a more sophisticated concept development, the firm uses state-of-the-art computer graphics to provide three dimensional renderings and animated walkthroughs.

The Rehoboth Beach Outlets - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art - Salisbury, Maryland, The Fountains Wedding & Conference Center – Salisbury, Maryland, The Commons commercial complex containing Home Depot and Target stores – Salisbury, Maryland and the structural components for the Arthur W. Perdue Stadium - Salisbury, Maryland just to name a few.

Davis, Bowen, and Friedel, Inc., is also recognized as an award winning firm. The Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the American Institute of Architects recently awarded Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc., Merit Awards for Excellence in Architecture for two projects: the Annapolis Daycare Center and the Smith Island Center. The firm also received awards for their work on the American Visionary Art Museum, the Berlin Wastewater Treatment System, and the Kreindler Residence – Bethany Beach, Delaware. The firm was recognized in 2008 as the #35 engineering/architecture firm in the country by Building Design & Construction Magazine’s annual Giants 300 Survey.
