Ryan and Julie Hickey purchased the business in 1997, after Ryan spent the previous six years working in the cycling business. An avid outdoor sportsman, Ryan Hickey knows that despite the Eastern Shore’s impressive coastal resorts and modern inland towns, it’s the kaleidoscopic beauty along its byways, many rivers and countless creeks that hold people captive.

Ryan passionately believes that pedaling and paddling are the best ways to experience the uniqueness of the Eastern Shore. To help as many people as possible do so, Easton Cycle and Sport stays open seven days a week in season and six days a week in the winter. This convenient shop carries a variety of bicycle, kayak and canoe product lines from highly respected manufacturers, and its knowledgeable and friendly staff is determined to provide 100 percent customer satisfaction. Staff members are always available to answer questions, provide guidance and perform expert equipment repairs and maintenance.

Easton Cycle and Sport is a trusted dealer for the merchandise of several globally recognized cycle firms, including Phat beach cruisers, Trek road and city bikes, Gary Fisher mountain bikes, Felt BMX and a variety of bicycles by Schwinn. Easton Cycle and Sport sells and rents bicycles to accommodate every type of rider, from competitive bikers and fitness enthusiasts to families having fun together while exploring the Eastern Shore. The shop even carries tricycles, baby seats and tagalong cycles and trailers so parents can bike with small children in tow and take longer family rides.

Neither Ryan or Julie—nor their daughters, Megan, 10, and Maddie, 8—will allow families to overlook the unique opportunity to explore the region’s quiet rivers and serene creeks via kayaks or canoes.

Easton Cycle and Sport offers pre-planned or customized trips on local creeks and rivers. The tours are led by personable staff members, all American Red Cross and paddling certified, who are well versed on safety, environmental issues and area history.

Canoes and single or double kayaks, equipped to paddle or sail, are available for purchase or rent from the Hickeys’ store, which carries an impressive selection of recreational and high performance crafts from Old Town, Ocean, Necky, Hurricane and Hobie. The shop also stocks accessories and other gear for the safety, comfort and convenience of its patrons, as well as roof-mounted Yakima racks and Rack-and-Roll Trailers for transporting sporting equipment.

Daily, weekend and week-long rentals are available for bicycles, kayaks, canoes, Hobie Catamarans and Stand Up Paddleboards. Safety equipment appropriate to each sport is always included to be sure clients have good, safe fun while enjoying the great outdoors.
