Back pain can be complicated and debilitating, but in the hands of a dedicated expert it can be history. Dr. Craig Chavis, the chiropractor who founded Elite Spine & Wellness Center in Bel Air, is a nationally recognized lecturer and has cared for thousands of patients over the past 16 years— including several athletes who participated in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Dr. Chavis received his Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri in 1995. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in human biology and has worked with surgeons and physicians to develop spinal treatments for work-related injuries.

He knew he wanted to become a chiropractor during his pre-med studies as an undergraduate student. “I was impressed by the chiropractor I shadowed because he was able to treat patients without drugs or surgery and get them back to their lives with extraordinary results,” he says.

“We look at the entire person to develop specific treatment plans based upon the person’s history, complaints and stress levels.”

Elite Spine & Wellness Center focuses on chiropractic and physical therapy treatment and operates with the whole patient in mind. The practice enjoys one of the highest referral rates in Harford County, with approximately 50 percent of patients receiving referrals from their family physicians.

“Our facility focuses on people, not just pain,” says Dr. Chavis. “We look at the entire person to develop specific treatment plans based upon the person’s history, complaints and stress levels.”

The center treats patients from birth to more than 100 years of age and offers cutting edge technology including the Insight spinal scanner, which can pinpoint spinal problems while measuring their effect on the patient’s nervous system. Elite Spine & Wellness Center’s website also features a 3-D interactive spine model as part of its patient education area.

Elite Spine & Wellness Center is also the only practice in the area to use the low force ArthroStim treatment, which is safe for older patients because it adjusts problem areas with rapid but gentle taps. Dr. Chavis’ practice also features one of the most powerful cold lasers in the area in the form of the Theralase, which provides relief for post-surgical patients, chronic pain patients and acute pain patients when nothing else has helped.

Jessica Pritchett, marketing director and assistant, has been with Elite Spine & Wellness Center since the end of September. She says, “We continue to reach out to the community and invite new patients to experience the benefits of spinal health. We pride ourselves on the great results we see.”

Andrea Hilliker is the office manager and a chiropractic assistant. She is the newest addition to Elite Spine & Wellness Center, having just started last November.
