Dear Friends of the YWCA:
The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County is delighted to have been selected as the designated beneficiary of Jordan Publishing’s Exclusively Greater Annapolis. We are pleased to be associated with Jordan Publishing and the businesses and organizations participating in this high-quality publication.
In addition to both the visibility provided for the YWCA and the philanthropic contribution made possible by Jordan Publishing and those businesses featured in the publication, the YWCA has benefitted immensely by our association and participation in this project. Through this publication, the YWCA has established numerous community partnerships that have supported the organization and, ultimately, victims of domestic violence and sexual assault who have come to us for support. Whether this was through monetary contributions, in-kind support, attendance at events, advocacy initiatives, or connecting the organization to additional business opportunities, the relationship between the YWCA, Jordan Publishing and those featured in Exclusively Greater Annapolis has been advantageous.
The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, established in 1920, is the leading human services agency for women and their families in Anne Arundel County. Begun to provide housing and meals for young women working in the state capital, the organization has grown and evolved with the ever-changing population of Anne Arundel County. Today, the YWCA offers a broad array of services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault as well as a variety of programs for families, children and youth. The YWCA also sponsors the Tribute to Women of Color and the Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) events.
The work of the YWCA has a meaningful and long-lasting impact on those we serve. Focused on the needs of those in crisis, specifically victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, the YWCA looks to protect, inspire and empower those who seek our support. This is accomplished through the YWCA’s Arden House (Anne Arundel County’s only domestic violence safe house shelter), counseling services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, legal representation to obtain peace and protective orders, and an evidence-based abuser intervention program to provide alternatives to violence for those with a history of being abusive. By providing a continuum of care, the YWCA helps people in crisis heal and regain their path to achieving their greatest potential.
On behalf of our board, staff and volunteers of the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, I invite you to participate in Exclusively Greater Annapolis 2012 which will benefit our organization and support our efforts to build a stronger, safer community for our neighbors.
