Foxborough is a full-service landscape company specializing in outdoor living spaces and unique gardens. The company is known for creating successful landscape designs that integrate the client’s tastes and desires with the style of the residence and the elements of the site. “We have a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of plant varieties and their cultural requirements, allowing us to produce some of the Mid-Atlantic’s most distinctive gardens,” founder David Thompson says.

Mr. Thompson became interested in horticulture as a 12-year-old in 1965 mowing lawns. He continued to work various jobs in horticulture before earning a bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture from the University of Maryland in 1975. Three years later he founded Foxborough Nursery, Inc. with his wife, Marilyn.

Foxborough Nursery, Inc. began as a wholesale nursery grower specializing in producing unusual and rare plants. The Thompsons simultaneously started a landscape design/build division of the company so they could install the plants they grew.

In 2007, a spin-off company, Foxborough, Inc., was created for the landscape division. “This allowed our sons to manage the division of their interest after coming back from college,” Mr. Thompson explains.

Andrew Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape design and construction from Penn State. He is the designer and runs the landscape design/build division, Foxborough, Inc. Brad Thompson is the grower and runs the 230-acre wholesale nursery division, Foxborough Nursery, Inc. He has a bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture from the University of Delaware.

Showcasing their own premium specimen plant material, Foxborough, Inc. enjoys a widespread reputation for unique landscape gardens from formal to whimsical in style. Foxborough’s gardens are found throughout Harford and Baltimore Counties, as well as Baltimore City, and have been featured on tours, in gardening magazines and in several landscape books.

Foxborough has been known as a leader in residential landscaping and garden construction for more than 30 years and offers complete care from building the gardens to maintaining them throughout the season. “Our success comes from listening to our clients’ ideas and needs, applying our professional knowledge and guiding these ideas to a finished project,” Mr. Thompson says.

Foxborough collaborates with clients on every aspect of landscape and property management, working with small residences to large estates. Whether rejuvenating an existing area or planning a new garden, from perennial borders to stone terraces and walls, Foxborough’s staff are attentive to the client’s desires in creating their new outdoor living environment. An outdoor living space with a pool and grilling area can greatly enhance the ability for outdoor entertaining. “Our gardens are our advertisement,” Mr. Thompson says. “We have built a reputation for 32 years that sets us apart from other landscape companies.”
