Having practiced general dentistry in Easton, for 25 years, Herbert Paul Gorin, D.D.S., and his dedicated staff, believe that outstanding dental care goes beyond protecting and repairing teeth.

“Our job as healthcare providers is to supply people with the vision, knowledge and options that enable them to be responsible for their dental health,” says Dr. Gorin.

To that end, Dr. Gorin provides a comprehensive range of general dentistry services, including pediatric dentistry, basic endodontics, periodontics, implants, and oral surgery. When more specialized care is required, Dr. Gorin has access to a network of qualified experts.

“In addition to the care we provide patients, the strength of our office is our staff,” says Dr. Gorin. “We are passionate about the work we do and incredibly compassionate to those who walk through our doors.” Dr. Gorin’s team includes hygienists Ellen Dickson and Judi Hallett, office manager Regina Dickerson and assistants Holly Moreland and Rachel Coursey. Several staffers have worked with Dr. Gorin for more than two decades.

“The six of us are like a close-knit family, and that loving, caring, familial atmosphere helps put our patients at ease,” says Dr. Gorin, who believes that a nervous patient should never be left unattended. “Human contact is essential, whether that means sitting beside our patients, holding their hands or praying with them,” he says.

Dr. Gorin will do whatever is necessary to make patients feel comfortable—and that includes taking a moment to serenade them with a song. To relax patients and brighten their day, Dr. Gorin will often strum a tune on his guitar or ukulele.

Prior to earning his dentistry degree at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Dr. Gorin worked for Xerox. He chose dentistry so he could help people, which he also does by volunteering with local youth groups, playing in his church band, and helping coach the Talbot County YMCA swim team. In October 2008, Dr. Gorin and his staff embarked on a mission trip to Honduras, tending to the dental needs of children. In his free time, Dr. Gorin loves to surf, bike, and paint.

A Maryland native, Dr. Gorin moved to the Eastern Shore because of its strong sense of community. “Family is entrenched here,” he explains. “That’s what makes it so desirable.” As testament to the family atmosphere he’s successfully created in his practice, staff and patients alike have asked Dr. Gorin to sing and play music at everything from family weddings to funerals. And, in keeping with the Eastern Shore farming heritage, Dr. Gorin and his wife, Laura, own a working sheep farm in nearby Oxford.

According to Dr. Gorin, there is more to dentistry than keeping up with the latest dental technology and procedures. “Our practice shares life with people,” he says. “We love what we do and we love the people we care for. We look at our practice as a blessing more than a career, and we hope to work together for many years to come.”
