Feeling good about the exterior can give the confidence needed to greet the world with a smile. That’s where John Schneider, D.D.S., comes into the picture. Assisted by his experienced, professional staff, Dr. Schneider is dedicated to creating great faces and incredible smiles through exceptional orthodontics.

For Dr. Schneider, orthodontics is a partnership between himself and his patients. The unbeatable combination of a patient’s desire for a beautiful, healthy smile along with Dr. Schneider’s skills, and state-of-the-art procedures and equipment, achieves fabulous results.

Dr. Schneider earned his degree in dentistry from Georgetown University in 1966, after which he entered a three year program to earn his certification in orthodontics and become a licensed orthodontic specialist. Dr. Schneider has been caring for children, adolescents and adults for over 35 years. (More than 30 percent of his patients are age 25 or older.) A resident of Easton, Dr. Schneider says, “I love what I do. Creating a beautiful smile and face along with a great occlusion—or bite—is so rewarding. I wouldn’t dream of retiring.”

Dedicated to providing his patients with the latest orthodontic techniques and procedures, Dr. Schneider is a member of numerous professional organizations and he actively participates in continuing professional training. The state of Maryland requires 25 hours of continuing education annually and Dr. Schneider exceeds that every year. “I was recently audited,” says Dr. Schneider, with a smile. “But I’d given them 182 credit hours.”

Continued training is essential because, says Dr. Schneider, “The advances in orthodontics have been incredible.” For example, he notes, “I can now treat patients more effectively, in less time, and with little discomfort, using the Damon System.” This technique employs high-tech wires and braces along with a leading edge treatment philosophy to provide a broad, beautiful smile, balanced face and occlusion. The work is accomplished in a shorter timeframe, with fewer visits, less discomfort, and more stable biocompatible results, usually without the need for extractions, palatal expanders or headgear. A Damon System pioneer, Dr. Schneider has been using the technique exclusively since 2003, much longer than any other orthodontist in the Mid-Shore region. Dr. Schneider is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Damon Study Club of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Dr. Schneider’s dedication to his patients’ comfort is evident throughout his office, which is decorated with original Eastern Shore art, comfortable seating, a TV and a game room for those who wish to play. He sees patients in his Easton office, where he practices four days a week. He also sees handicapped patients three times a month at a clinic in Salisbury.

“I have a great staff, and we have a great time,” says Dr. Schneider, noting his staff’s festive Halloween picture. “We are all here to do whatever it takes to make patients feel as comfortable as possible, while achieving the best results with the most advanced resources available today. We treat our patients like they’re part of our family.”
