Summer for Sale seems appropriate to title the collective, and widely collected, works of Annapolis artist Liz Lind, available at Liz Lind Editions West Annapolis Gallery. Ms. Lind’s vividly colorful and, sometimes, whimsical artistry is an expression of her summer memories and other joyful experiences. “I am from Annapolis and my family spent summers at the beach. When I paint, I’m reliving those days,” Liz explains.

Liz’s brilliant, mind-bending original watercolors and spectacular giclee limited edition prints, which look exactly like the originals, can liven-up the drabbest of rooms, but have adorned some of Annapolis’ most impressive walls for more than 20 years.

“I hope people enjoy my collection of images and that it conveys the feeling of endless summer days filled with life’s simplest pleasures.”

Liz Lind, who attributes much of her talent to genetics, began drawing and painting at the age of five and never stopped. “I was compelled to do it— and still am,” she states. Consequently, Liz has a soft spot for aspiring artists and privately teaches from her home in Berlin, Maryland.

Though classically trained, Liz classifies her style as expressionistic, in that she is much more interested in what each individual feels upon seeing one of her painting than she is in creating an accurate representation of its subject matter. Liz’s seascapes and Annapolis-culture pieces have been known to bring nostalgic smiles to the faces and happiness to the minds and hearts of even the most stoic individuals.

“I have worked hard to piece together my education,” says Liz. Recently, I’ve been studying privately in New York City with one of the premier fashion illustrators in the country, simply to learn his technique for truly defining the character of a person, drawing as few lines as possible.” Liz combines that minimalistic technique with her vivid water colors to help her keep the focus on whatever it is about each subject that she feels will best activate people’s fond memories, imaginations and happiness.

Liz receives happiness as well as creative inspiration from her own surroundings and interests. Flower gardening inspires Liz to experiment with still more artistic techniques and causes her to play with a whole new palette of colors and a variety of mediums to give extended life on canvas to her garden’s delicate but fragile bouquets. “I hope people enjoy my collection of images and that it conveys the feeling of endless summer days filled with life’s simplest pleasures,” Liz remarks sincerely.

To help spread the happiness of the “world according to Liz,” Liz Lind Editions recently launched a newly designed website. Visitors may electronically order various-sized, fine-art, giclee prints of Liz’s original artwork. All prints are limited editions and quality-inspected by Liz, herself. Fun products featuring Liz’s whimsical creations also are available on the website. For originals and commissioned artwork, visitors must contact the West Annapolis Gallery. Custom framing also is available there for those living nearby.

Though Liz is a prolific artist, her original paintings are becoming increasingly difficult to acquire due to high demand. Consequently, impatient art collectors sometimes commission her artwork. “People tell me that my art makes them happy. I couldn’t ask for a higher compliment,” says Liz.
