Like Harford County, Manekin Construction can boast of a proud heritage, lengthy lineage and impressive growth. Founded as a family-owned real estate brokerage firm in 1946, by 1976 Manekin began providing interior construction for its Columbia tenants, with one goal always in mind—“Satisfy client needs.” Manekin’s extraordinary success in doing so soon spread to nearby suburbs where demand for its services was growing exponentially and the nature of its construction projects became increasingly comprehensive and complex.

In Harford County, Water’s Edge Corporate Campus in Belcamp displays five such Manekin buildings. In addition to infrastructure, site and shell work, Manekin customized interiors to accommodate the needs of specific tenants and dedicated community space for a deli, fitness center, pedestrian walkways and picnic areas overlooking the Bush River. Manekin received two Awards of Excellence from NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties) for its work on the project—Best Single-Story Office Building and Best Low to Mid-Rise Office Building. The current building under construction is designed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Harford County Public Schools Administration Building, which Manekin constructed in downtown Bel Air, received Gold LEED certification and NAIOP’s Most Environmentally Friendly Green Building award.

The Bulle Rock Residents’ Club in Havre de Grace is another grand Harford County project which testifies to Manekin Construction’s professional expertise. The elegance of this 40,000-square-foot community centerpiece, with its open-air terrace, outdoor pool, tennis/bocce courts and putting green, offers Bulle Rock residents year-round resort lifestyles. The indoor fitness and aquatic center is rich with amenities and splendid detailing, and the main level features a ballroom to accommodate 200 guests and spectacular views of the Chesapeake Bay. Manekin Construction was deluged with accolades and awards for achievement excellence on this project: Best in American Living, Silver Award by Professional Builder Magazine and National Association of Home Builders; Project of the Year by Land Development Council of Home Builders Association of Maryland; Project Innovations Award by Buildings Magazine and Best Project Amenity by NAIOP.

Continuing a company tradition, each year Manekin Construction participates in a different kind of project—a Day of Caring when approximately 100 employees provide free services to worthy organizations, like Harford Family House and Harford Habitat for Humanity. Also, together with subcontractors and vendors, it holds an annual, festive, holiday fundraiser for needy families and charities. The list of participants has grown from 27 to about 400 and recently contributions have run between forty and seventy thousand dollars—another Manekin project worthy of accolades.
