The Snyder-Ervin Group was founded by James R. Snyder, CFP®, Director – Wealth Management, who boasts four decades of professional investing experience. Mr. Snyder graduated with High Honors in electrical engineering at the University of Maryland and was president of the school's chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the national EE honor society. This strong academic background has served him well in the analysis, understanding and problem solving aspects of his work. Mr. Snyder focuses on wealth planning strategies and leading the overall direction of the team.

Thomas C. Ervin, CFP®, First Vice President, Financial Advisor, is among a small percentage of financial advisors to earn the Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM distinction. Mr. Ervin concentrates on 401(k) and other qualified retirement plans, and he assists clients with investment management and financial planning.

Daniel R. Snyder, CFP®, CIMA®, is also a First Vice President, Financial Advisor, but his focus is in evaluating and performing due diligence for mutual fund and other managed account investing. Dan Snyder, who is Jim’s son, is among the small group of financial professionals to have earned both the Senior Investment Management Consultant and the Certified Investment Management Analyst designations.

Each of the aforementioned investment professionals is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM. “Everybody in our business claims to be a financial planner,” says Jim Snyder. “The CFP® designation demonstrates the commitment to pass the rigorous testing and continuing education necessary for certification.”

Financial Advisor Jonathan Steele received his MBA in finance from the University of Maryland and brings years of experience in the financial industry to the team. Annapolitans may recognize the Steele name as his father, Marshall Steele, was a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon in the area.

Tracey Foss Snyder, Dan’s wife, is a Client Relationship Manager on the team who focuses on fixed income investments, portfolio management, marketing and event planning. Jaime L. Pickett, Registered Associate, Catherine M. Eckenrode, Senior Client Service Associate and Mary Fitzpatrick, Client Service Associate, all assist clients with various account issues.

The Snyder-Ervin Group is purposely multigenerational. “We want clients to have a relationship with us throughout their lives, and for their children to have the same opportunity,” says Jim Snyder. The Snyder-Ervin Group provides investment consulting for wealth accumulation and retirement income strategies, including access to alternative investment strategies and tax-free bond portfolios. Additional services include college savings plans, insurance, and estate planning services (in conjunction with local attorneys).

The group’s core business is with households or entities that can invest $1,000,000 or more. Says Mr. Ervin: “Our priority is to work with nice people who want our professional guidance with their investing and financial planning needs.”
