Three words describe the essence of Swan Cove Day Spa & Salon’s philosophy: relaxation, renewal and rejuvenation.

When aesthetician Brenda LeCompte’s client base grew large enough to expand, she was not about to do it half way. Recognizing the need for a full-service salon and spa on Kent Island, she sought to create a rejuvenation oasis. Offering a variety of spa services—including facials, manicures, pedicures, body wraps, massage therapies and a full-service hair salon—Swan Cove rivals upscale spas and salons in exotic locations.

Situated in Stevensville’s historic district, Swan Cove opened in 2004. Ms. LeCompte chose the site because the architecture, landscaping and quaint atmosphere fit with her vision.

Transforming the 3,750-square-foot space in a historic building presented challenges, but the results were worthwhile. Muted colors, soft lighting, fragranced candles, relaxing music and water fountains metaphysically transport the client to a state of tranquility.

When designing Swan Cove, Ms. LeCompte gleaned ideas from upscale spas and salons across the country and consulted a specialized salon/spa designer who incorporated dark, rich furnishings, touches of bamboo and luxurious fabrics with innovative equipment to blend atmosphere with functionality. For instance, state-of-the-art, pipeless pedicure stations provide ultimate sanitation.

Carrying the finest botanical products, skincare and massage formulas are derived from organic extracts and are paraben-free. Swan Cove uses only exclusive hair care products, such as Matrix, Biolage, Aveda, Pevonia and MD Formulations Skincare. “Our skin and hair care products are offered at the most prestigious salons and spas in the world,” says Ms. LeCompte.

Stylists, aestheticians, massage therapists, nail technicians and other staff members at Swan Cove are carefully chosen to provide top quality service. “I want people who are passionate about their trade,” says Ms. LeCompte, “those who are in tune to the client’s wishes and the philosophy of this spa.”

Ms. LeCompte encourages her staff to further their education in their trades. “I feel you should always strive to be your best,” she says.

Reflecting this approach, Swan Cove will be expanding its services to include aesthetic microderm abrasion and other medical-based treatments, such as Botox and fillers, through a plastic surgeon affiliation.

Swan Cove provides almost any service imaginable, from hair removal, lash tinting and extensions to whole-body exfoliating scrubs and spray-on tanning. “Fantasy spray tanning provides the color everyone likes, but in a safe way,” says Ms. LeCompte.

While the majority of Swan Cove’s clients are women, many men enjoy hot shaves, haircuts, massages and manicures. A positive, relaxing experience is paramount at Swan Cove. Upon entering, customers are greeted with warm neck wraps and cups of organic herbal tea. No wonder Swan Cove won What’s Up Eastern Shore magazine’s “Best of … “ award in five categories for the last two years. This year, Swan Cove won Best Customer Service, Best Spa, Best Place for a Makeover, Best Brows and Best Manicure & Pedicure.
