After several years of careful planning, a new style of retirement community is slated to break ground
late this year with a projected opening in the fall of 2013. The Village at Carsins Run, named after a stream that runs through the property, will serve the Harford County area. The community will offer continuing care and a vibrant lifestyle to residents aged 60 and older in an intimate neighborhood environment.
The Village at Carsins Run will predominately feature independent living residences along with assisted living and nursing care. The community will feature state-of-the-art technology, Wi-Fi, on-site health care, a fitness club and several dining choices including a restaurant style dining experience, a bistro, private dining and a bar/lounge. The community will also feature a wood shop, dog walking areas and more than 100 acres of trees and walking paths.
Sue Shea, President and CEO, says, “This is a retirement community for baby-boomers of the future that will be fun, vibrant and full of life. We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure The Village at Carsins Run will be a vital, energetic community.”
“Carsins Run is not going to be like anything else in Harford County,” says Senior Retirement Counselor Heather Lamont. “The atmosphere is going to be completely different, surrounding our 350 residents with exceptional architectural design and gracious amenities. Residents will enjoy enriched, secure neighborhood-style living in a convenient location.”
Carsins Run boasts 21 distinctive floor plans consisting of apartments and cottages designed inside and out with seniors in mind. The spacious residences include open floor plans, large windows, gracious ceiling heights, walk-in closets and full modern kitchens. Many of the residences include several bedrooms or dens, and most come with a balcony or patio. Charter Members will have the opportunity to personalize their new home and enjoy significant savings.
The community will consist of 162 apartment residences in four-story buildings with interior connections to amenity areas. There will be 21 stand alone cottage homes in a neighborhood setting. The cottages will each have a two-car garage, while many apartments will have access to enclosed, underground parking with elevator access to the accommodations and activity areas.
“It’s going to be an amazing community,” Ms. Lamont says. “We are the first continuing care retirement community in Harford County. You enter Carsins Run healthy and independent, and as you age, if you need more care, it’s there for you. You don’t have to go somewhere else or leave your loved ones.”
“Our residents will always have something to do,” Ms. Shea says. “The Village of Carsins Run will offer a wide range of social activities to choose from, or our residents might just enjoy planning their own activities like a shopping trip, a card game, or just a walk around the campus with a new neighbor. It’s been proven that socialization keeps you more active, keeps your brain stimulated and supports a healthy lifestyle.”
“I want our residents’ later years to be their best years,” she adds. “We pride ourselves on giving our seniors more dignity and choices as they age.”
