Accident Reconstruction Consulting

TransCon CSIConsider the following scenario: Two vehicles are in an accident. One has rear end damage and the other has front end damage. Did one car hit the other from behind, or did the first car back into the second? TransCon CSI is hired to answer the tough questions.

TransCon CSI, short for TransCon Crash Scene Investigations, is one of approximately three dozen crash scene investigation firms in the nation. TransCon CSI provides expert testimony concerning collision reconstruction and analysis for motor vehicles of all makes and models. The experience and reputation of TransCon CSI has prompted contact from numerous government and law enforcement agencies when additional or independent assistance is needed.

For the past 17 years, TransCon CSI has been hired by insurance providers, attorneys and commercial motor carriers across the country. However, 2010 has been a tremendous year for growth in TransCon CSI, which now works beyond the U.S. borders by handling international crash scenes as well. In order to accommodate this growth, TransCon CSI has nearly doubled its staff in the past year.

“Gathering and interpreting evidence is like putting a puzzle together. It’s very satisfying to put all the pieces together to find the answers and close the case.”

Among TransCon CSI’s dedicated staff is David Rineholt, who retired from the Maryland State Police in 2009 after 22 years of service. As the former reconstruction program coordinator for the state police, Mr. Rineholt brings a wealth of training and experience to TransCon CSI. Sam Morrison, a native of Annapolis, provides assistance and support with the reconstruction experts both on-scene and in the office. Joan K. O’Regan joined the TransCon CSI team in 2009 after many years as a legal assistant for law firms in Annapolis as well as Manhattan.

Glen Reuschling, president and CEO, is a retired Maryland State Trooper. He is certified by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR), the only nationally accredited testing protocol accepted in the industry. In addition to gaining hands-on experience in the field, TransCon CSI investigators attend training and certification courses throughout the year. Mr. Reuschling has participated in more than 100 courses, which include accident investigation techniques, low speed crash analysis, tire forensic examination, brake system design and application methods, “black box” downloads and highway work zone regulations. He has investigated or testified in hundreds of litigated cases and is qualified throughout the country as an expert witness in many disciplines of accident investigation, reconstruction and commercial vehicle inspection. Mr. Reuschling has handled more than 1,000 documented collision reconstruction cases.

“We go to accident scenes and collect data to identify what happened and why,” explains Mr. Reuschling. “The TransCon team isn’t necessarily concerned with the outcome of a litigation case. Our focus is strictly on the facts of the accident and proper interpretation of the evidence.”

Glen Reuschling and the investigators at TransCon CSI enjoy that their work solves mysteries. “Gathering and interpreting evidence is like putting a puzzle together,” says Mr. Reuschling. “Each piece is uniquely different as it interacts with the next. It’s very satisfying to put all the pieces together to find the answers and close the case.”
